A seller with Kijiji user name Charles, has multiple brand new items listed for relatively lower prices on Kijiji. Kijiji shows the seller lives at Edmonton, AB T5X 3V4 and would ship or available for pick up in Edmonton.
Here is the postal code of all the brand new items listed:
Here is the seller’s profile https://www.kijiji.ca/o-profile/1006554405/listings/1
I got interested in Canon 5D Mark IV.
The seller provided his/her name Monika Starco, phone number (403)999-6565 and email (monikastarco2010@gmail.com) for e-transfer. I made the payments through e-transfer – My fault obviously. I was trying to save pennies and am facing hundreds in a loss. I should not have trusted and advise others to not trust blindly.
Instead of Edmonton, the seller, first delayed shipment and then shipped the item from Montana, USA through UPS when I threatened with reporting to police.
Here is the UPS tracking # 1Z6R6E90DK23084002.
THE RESULT of this fraud is $579 for me for now because of the duties as a result of international shipment. The cost could be more because who knows what on the way in the package. Is it really the camera I wanted from the ghost seller, that I thought was coming from Edmonton or a piece of brick, a stone or some other junk used only to provide me with a UPS shipping number for keeping me quiet from reporting to authorities for a little longer.
I could buy a far cheaper camera than this locally in Canada. The ghost seller didn’t mention and I didn’t know the seller would be in Montana (or shiping from Billings, Montana) instead of Edmonton.
$579.91 is the additional cost I will be paying because the seller listed the item in Edmonton Alberta but shipped it from Billings, Montana, USA.
Besides Charles (on Kijiji and Monika for money transfer, the 3rd identity of this con-artist for shipping the item is:
Erwin Ortis, 5610 Redswocks Way, Unit 5, Billings, MT 59101, 406-850-0505
Moreover, I don’t know how the duties are calculated because these seem too high for the price I have paid. Also, I am not sure what “At the request of anonymous…” means in the UPS online update. Is it the seller calling UPS after the fact and raising duties on the package because I reported his listing to Kijiji or something else. However, I can’t pay the duties without first confirming what’s inside the package that was supposed to be coming from Edmonton – not Billings, MT, USA.
Finally, the package arrived. Being suspicious all along, I recorded all-time when the UPS dropped the package and rang the doorbell. Here is the video.
The camera is broken. However, it is faked to show as if it got broken during the shipment.
The camera is clearly broken before it was packed to fake as if it got broken during the shipment.
There is no body-cap.
There are no top dials.
There is no eyepiece.
There is no battery compartment door.
There is no neck strap.
There are no cables.
There is no battery.
Even the screws on the eyepiece have been removed. this is an old damaged camera with parts already removed.
One Screws on the form it’s also removed. If an item gets damaged during shipment, its screws don’t get unscrewed automatically.
Most importantly the camera is not even 5D Mark IV. See the backside of 5D Mark IV here.
The damaged camera that is shipped is 5D Mark III (not Mark IV) – see the backside of Mark III here.
The front top right corner has been deliberately removed so it’s not easy to find out if its Mark II or Mark IV.
Noting. If a brand new camera was damaged inside a package, all these parts would still be inside the package and the parts on the camera. The package can either get a hit or get dropped. But the damage to this camera is multi-dimensional. The camera body is obviously not brand new – nor are those missing parts inside the camera. Those parts, such as the eye-piece will be on the camera even if it fells down from a three-story building.
The battery charger in the package is from another camera type, not a Canon 5D Mark IV. So it confirms that this is total fraud to rip UPS and to rip me and have an excuse that the item was actually shipped to fool the law enforcement. And the item is listed and sold in Canada from US, thinking law enforcement won’t be interested in a $2200 fraud across the border.
here are pictures of the old camera which was packed in the box for the fraud. A camera doesn’t break down from all side due to one hit or a drop of package like this.
The camera sent is not even 5D Mark IV. It is 5D Mark III. See below. Also, note below the missing screws to show it was used for parts before packing and shipping to me.
See front side differences between the shipped Mark II and actual Mark IV below.
I got suspicious long time ago. I reported the crime to Ottawa Police on June 9, 2019 – see the report. I reported to RCMP on June 9 (reference 2020-59104) and updated the report on June 24 reference # 2020-67824
Here is my contact me if you need more info as law enforcement, Kijiji staff, another Kijiji user or UPS staff.
